In 1888 a group of cane farmers got together to form the Bundaberg Distilling Company, which has endured the test of time. Today, Bundaberg still uses the original distilling process. In 1962 Sam McMahon introduced the bear as a symbol of warding off the wickedest winter chill!
In 1899 the Armed forces requested the entire years production of Bundaberg Rum to be sent to the Australian troops in South Africa serving in the Boer War. In World War Two the troops enjoyed drinking Bundaberg with cola, so the distillery came up with a solution – a mix of Bundy and cola in a bottle!
Grown in the rich soil of North Queensland, sugar cane is the raw ingredient that gives Bundaberg Rum its truly unique flavour. Following a time honoured process, the raw sugar cane is first harvested and then crushed, distilled and matured for at least 2 years.
